Photography Tip – Honing your skills
You must be asking yourself ‘how do I get better?’, to be honest with you this isn’t an easy one to answer … in fact there are many answers to this one; you could read more, watch more, practice more, shoot more, shadow someone knowledgeable or enroll in courses.
I, for one, chose the hard way to hone my craft; I spent weeks on YouTube channels watching detailed tutorials on topics like depth of field, exposure, techniques, Photoshop, Lightroom, other specialized software and of course experimenting & applying what I’ve learnt.
Yet this isn’t always the best approach, if I could go back in time I would have approached it differently. I would have enrolled into a serious photography club; one that provides seminars, organizes events, challenges us, encourages exchange of ideas & gear.
Trust me when I say that being surrounded by other enthusiastic photographers brings out the best in you, it also gives you the opportunity to see through their eyes; being exposed to different perspectives & ideas, and needless to say, it gives you the comfort & reassurance of being in the company of other like-minded people. Such experiences can never be given in a photography course or a YouTube video.
So my advice to you, join a photography club in your neighborhood … you won’t regret it. ;)
